Squares Across the Border – Beginner Mainstream Square Dance Class
Join Squares Across the Border for our Beginner Mainstream 2026 square dance class. Whether you're completely new to square dancing or returning after some time away, this 20-lesson course will teach you the fundamentals in a fun, friendly, and supportive environment.
Classes begin the week of September 21, 2026. The course consists of 20 weekly lessons. The fee is $10 per class, with payment made monthly in advance.
NOTE: This class will only go forward if we have enough dancers sign up. We will let you know by September 1, 2026 if the class is happening.

If you are interested in learning to square dance but the class mentioned above doesn't work for your schedule, please contact us or click on the Valley Circle link in the right side bar to get information on other clubs. There are local square dance clubs that would be happy to teach you.
The square dance community is very welcoming and many of our SATB club members participate in several dance clubs in the Lower Mainland. Learning with another club is a great opportunity to network with other dancers and what you learn there prepares you to dance with us.

This is not the square dancing you may expect or remember:
- Dress is casual
- Music is contemporary
- We laugh a lot
- It's great exercise
- Singles and couples are welcome
- Lead? follow? Your choice
- Absolutely no experience (or rhythm) is necessary
- Don't know your right from your left? You'll learn!
Scheduled Autumn Afternoon Dances
(Saturdays from 3 -5 pm)

- November 21, 2026
- December 12,2026
All dances will be at the 411 Seniors Centre Society 3502 Fraser Street. The entrance to the hall is through the back lane. The levels will be whatever level the dancers are comfortable dancing at, from Mainstream to C2. Saturday afternoon dance fee is $10.
For weekly class nights, we need 8 committed dancers each week, or we have to cancel.
